About Art Therapy

According to The Vancouver Art Therapy Institute, “Art Therapy is a mental health profession that combines the process of creative art expression with models of counselling and psychotherapy to enhance emotional, physical and mental health. Art Therapy provides the client with an opportunity to explore personal problems and potentials, resolve conflicts and facilitate self-awareness and understanding through the use of art mediums and materials. Using imagery, colour and shape as part of this creative therapeutic process, thoughts and feelings can be expressed that would otherwise be difficult to articulate.” Sometimes, images and creative expression, can speak louder than words.

Coming Soon to Bowen Island

As a student at the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute, I am required to have 350 supervised, direct client hours in order to graduate. This Spring, I am happy to be able to offer a limited number of free art therapy sessions to members of the Bowen Island Community.
